About the artist

Sonja Holmberg is an arts educator and watercolorist who grew up in a small town in Western Massachusetts.  In 2021, she graduated from U. Penn’s Graduate School of Education (GSE), specializing in visual arts education. For her undergraduate years, she attended Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, receiving a triple major in Studio Art, English, and French. She has a passion for teaching and has frequently incorporated graphic novels into her lesson plans to promote her students’ enthusiasm for reading and the arts. Sonja currently lives and works in North Andover, MA as a Studio Art, English, and French teacher at Brooks School.

She recently completed an Artist’s Residency at Chateau d’Orquevaux in France and will be exhibiting her work in Brooks School’s Robert Lehman Art Center in November, 2023.
